Carlo Alberto Niccolini was born in Genoa in 1993. He joined TPG as PhD student in 2018. Main fields of interest during his PhD: hydrodynamic bearings stability analysis, compressor surge diagnostics in microturbines as well as turbochargers by relying on vibro-acoustics based precursors and system rotodynamic behavior identification. He got PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering in spring 2022 at the University of Genoa defending the thesis "Analysis of dynamic responses and instabilities in rotating machinery". He is currently a researcher in the field of innovative energy systems and compressor surge analysis in SOFC emulator plants and in two-phase closed loop systems, like heat pumps. Current research interests involve experimental characterization and modeling of PEMFC systems for naval propulsion, techno-economic analysis of Power-to-X processes and thermal energy storage systems.
