Analysis of Pressurised Hybrid Systems Based on Rolls-Royce IP-SOFC

High temperature Solid Oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) can operate at atmospheric or under pressurised conditions. In either case, system performance can be significantly increased when the fuel cells are integrated with proper devices, which are designed to provide the necessary air inlet conditions and to recover the exhaust gas energy. This work describes the models for the simulation of fuel cell and gas turbine hybrid systems, and it focuses on both the “cores” of the plant: the turbomachinery and the auxiliaries on the one hand, and the fuel cell on the other hand.
