Renzo di Felice

Current Role

Renzo Di Felice is Professor of Chemical Reaction Engineering at the University of Genoa. He joined TPG in 2004. He is active in the field of Chemical Reactor and Process Engineering, and his main areas of research are multiphase systems fluid dynamic, with particular reference to fluidized beds for which he has gained extensive international recognition, next to chemical process modelling, process intensification, gas and liquid stream treatment, CO2 capture and utilization. Her is a member of the Italian Association of Chemical Engineers (AIDIC), the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) and of the American Institution of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).

Research Activities and Results

• More than 150 scientific papers, published in international scientific journals, with over 6000 citations (h-index = 35).
• Research activities funded by national and international public bodies, next to numerous private companies.
• Italian representative in the European Federation Chemical Engineers Working Party “Process Intensification”
• Contribution in the framework of the “Rolls-Royce Fuel Cell University Technology Centre”. The centre supports RR on all the aspects of the development of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Systems.
• Scientific director of the “GREG” project. Fully funded by a private company, GREG is a multimillion euro project with the aim of producing valuable chemicals starting from non-food biomasses, first at the pilot plant and then at the industrial plant scale.
• Consultant to local CO2 emitters (Refinery and Coke production plants) on processes to mitigate carbon footprint and to comply with emission limits.
