
Current Role
Alessandro Sorce is Associate Professor in the IIND-06/B field (Systems for the Energy and the Environment) from October 2023. He graduated in 2013 as PhD at the “Science and Technology for Engineering” school of the University of Genoa carrying out his research in the field of “Energy Systems Diagnostics”, taking care also of data validation process. He worked on remote long term monitoring of Gas Turbine and Combined Cycle and on the development and optimization of the diagnostic process at the Power Diagnostic Centre of Siemens at Muelheim an der Ruhr (Germany) collaborating with Ansaldo Energia and in Tirreno Power, an Italian electricity producer, developing and enhancing the monitoring of Combined Cycle Power Plants based on different GT frames. Actually collaborates with the most important energy companies in the Italian and International market, on the topic of expert monitoring systems and process flexibility including optimal dispatchment of generators and storages.

- More than 70 scientific papers, most of them published at international conferences and journals, with over 800 citations.
- Active role in more than 8 EU funded projects (e.g. GENIUS, PUMP-HEAT, INSPIRE, SINNOGENES, EVELIXIA, H2POWDR and I-UPS) and various national projects, including (HERMES, POSEIDON, NEST, and REions).
- Scientific Responsible, co-manager or participant of more than 15 research projects funded by companies operating in the energy sector.
- Awarded with the best paper award of the Cycle Innovations track at ASME Turbo Expo 2019 and 2022.
