TPG is part of a cooperation agreement on Technical Assistance Services in between the Eduardo Mondlane University, Maputo, Mozambique, and the joint association of University of Genoa and RINA Consulting, Italy. Such a contract has started on 1st November 2023, and continues for 36 months, during which the joint association of University of Genoa and RINA, basing on internal background and international network, is assisting the UEM to achieve the overall objective to become a research university, according to recognized standards and rankings. The assistance will focus on four main technical areas, namely academic area, pedagogical area, scientific area and administrative area.
Within this framework, technical visits were conducted with the following main goals in 2024 and 2025:
– Present and update of the collaboration status.
– Discuss the specific technical activities of each specific area.
– Visit the UEM campus and become familiar with the overall university environment.
– Decide the follow-up actions, including staff and student mobility.
An Italian delegation, led by Prof. Alberto Traverso, project coordinator, and Prof. Marco Frascio, former vice-Rector of the International Cooperation, had the opportunity to appreciate the excellent location of the campus, meet the leadership people, among whom prof. D. M, Guillerme, Rector of UEM, prof. E. Tostao, Scientific Director of UEM and project coordinator on UEM side, visit the main university offices laboratories and centers.
Furthermore, it was also possible to meet the Director of AICS and the Italian Ambassador, for a courtesy update on the project development and general discussions about Italy-Mozambique on-going cooperation actions and future opportunities.
