Techno-Economic Investigation of Power Systems for a Decarbonized Naval Sector

This paper proposes a techno-economic investigation of power systems for a decarbonized naval sector. The goal is to build a database for the definition of cost functions related to the use of new green technologies in the naval sector and perform a comparison with conventional solutions. For this purpose, a state-of-the-art of the current technologies employed for power generation, storage and propulsion systems (in terms of power converters and electric motors) in the naval sector is presented. The work presents the set-up database, built on the base of commercially available data, that includes the main data of the technologies considered in terms of weights, volumes and costs. Finally, an analysis of the data collected is presented and discussed.
